General Category / General Discussion / New Year's Plans?
|

I'm actually hoping for some insipration here, as my girlfriend & I have no firm ideas as of yet. We got sick of suffering over-inebriated jackasses, crap music and being ripped off on drinks prices & cab fares last year. At the moment, our main plan is to hike up to the woods & have a quiet barbeque, with not-so-quiet fireworks at midnight.
So, how're you guys intending to celebrate the New Year? |

Hope everyone had a great Christmas/Channukah/Kwanzaa/Yule/non-denominational festive season. I just got back from spending the holidays with my girlfriend's family, which happily wasn't anywhere near as disastrous as it could have been....
So, what'd everyone score, gift-wise? <Evil grin> |

The desktop management guys in my office use Tivoli to distribute software upgrades and manage the software stack centrally. It was mostly a joke suggstion as I suspect it is a rather expensive/heavyweight application. And buying a house...eek. I hate moving house. I haven't moved house since 1989 but it will have to be done soon I suppose. 2xadults + 2xKids + 2x Bedrooms = at least 1 bedroom too few. Ah, we've got a network folder that I download any updates into, then access it on each machine. Still not the quickest means, but easier than downloading a whole application 46 times....
I've got to move house <again! Eighth time in five years!> at the end of January, when the landlord sells the house I currently rent. Since buying is way out of my price range, I need to find somewhere else to live, pretty soon. Oh, for stability in my life! |

Better at home than trapped in day-job hell - I work at an internet cafe and need to update Adobe Reader on all 46 machines. Oh, the monotony!
On the bright side, I did pretty much finish my Christmas shopping during my lunch today.... |

I've heard good things about Deadwood but I generally dislike westerns. Anything in it that might appeal to someone who doesn't generally like the subject matter?
The only current TV show I've gotten into of late is, somewhat guiltily, The OC.... |

| I've pretty much given up on broadcast TV. I can make do without the endless barrage of adverts, repeats and godforsaken 'reality' TV shows. Anything I do like, I end up buying the DVDs. |
