Why?
Perhaps he will hunt me down ...
no reason really except that I am likely to come into virtual contact with him.

Damn. I forgot/didn't realise Drew Melbourne was a MW regular.
Maybe I shouid have been a little kinder about ArchEnemies.

Huh
34  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Pure Evil 1 year anniversary on: March 24, 2006, 01:34:18 PM
I think that this anniversary is better than realizing that you have been in the same shit job with benefits for 5 years. Which I celebrate today.
Ha..
I've worked in the same job since 5th March 1989......
but I am old and have a  final salary pension to look forward to if the bastards don't close it before 2023.

Ps
Nice Kitty....

I remember when the Shannara books were this one off trilogy.
The Sword of Shannara...no offence but a bigger pile of tosh I have yet to read.

Favourite authors - based on a body of work rather than a single favourite novel:-

Iain M Banks
Gene Wolfe
Dan Simmons
George RR Martin

There are loads more but I would most want to write like these guys. Intelligent, thought provoking and still a damned good read.

In about 20 longboxes.. variously under the bed (it's a big bed) and stacked in a cupboard .

China Mieville - Iron Council

I thought I'd better...
38  General Category / Books & Comic Books / Re: Currently Reading: Comics on: March 06, 2006, 05:22:27 PM

Sadly I think there is more....

In deed there is
How could I forget
Powers - hello again Bendis
Loveless - I'm enjoying this more than Jonah Hex (which I ahve accidentally dropped)
Down - morally dubious but ok I guess
Testament - liked #1 but not sold on #2 - I liek LiamSharp tho so may kee p it going.

In trades

Lucifer
The Losers
Ultimate FF
The Walking Dead

I seem to have stopped buying TPBs of
Ult Spiderman
Ultimate X-Men
without noticing so will stick with that subliminal idea.

I didn't enjoy Invincible (HC) enough to persevere with further trades so that should save me a bob or two as well

relaunched Wildstorm.
40  General Category / Films & TV / Re: Life on Mars on: March 04, 2006, 03:50:21 PM
What did everyone think of the last episode ?

Sadly I think they telegraphed everything except the very end which was (IMO) a massive cop out.

Ultimates v 2 - superb
Team Zero - not bad at all
Punisher - Ennis continues to shine though the choice of artists is a bit odd sometimes.
Red Sonja - sue me, I like this stuff.
Daughters of the Dragon - funky and funny.
Daredevil - bye bye Bendis. Hello Brubaker. But still pretty damned good.
Planetary - when is the next one out ? soon please.
Ultimate Hulk v Wolverine - great stuff.
Wolverine - Way and Texiera should be doing better than this.
Hellblazer - New writer is from Glasgow so I'm giving this a chance...not solid gold yet, but not bad either.
Usagi Yojimbo - Stan Sakai continues to delight me month on month.
Justice - slow but very interesting. I think the format & schedule is likely to kill it sales wise but I'm betting this will be on a par with Marvels when it is complete.
Supreme Power - Hyperion - well written but Jurgems art + Jansons inks just don't work for me.
Nextwave - missed #2 -aargh
Desolation Jones Ellis is the new Moore Smiley
Fell - great stuff
Ultimate Galactus part 3 - intriguing but it needs to break away from the formula of the 1st and 2nd issues before it gets dull.
Punisher v Bullseye daft but fun and with Steve Dillon on art it can't be wrong.

Sadly I think there is more....

aha.
next weeks episode is the last one.
You had me going there.

I didn't think too much of this weeks one. Nothing wrong with it per se, but it felt like a filler.
