I was At Wizard world Chicago and bought 8 pages of Dustin Nguyen art from Authority Revolution and got a pair of head sketches. One of the Huntress and another of the Engineer. Yes I typed correctly...8 pages.

My god, I look horrible in those photos.

I need to cry and infor Brenda of this. She looked like she had too much fun at the Hitch line.  Tongue

I just read the Bill Hicks biography, American Scream by Cynthis True. It was a heart breaker.

It was direly hot in chicago last week, but it's not that bad now. It is humid as all hell though. Then again, humidity kills me more than the heat.

I really enjoy Templesmith's pencil's because it gives a very plain, simple definition to his work that show the importance of color to his art. His line work is funny in a comedic manner.

I like Hitch's art, and i know i would like a piece, but I know finding a average price piece is difficult. As for Sketches, I would not hit up a guy like Hitch, becuase the line would be very cranky if one does so. With that in mind I'd kill for a Hitch Engineer myself.

I was thinking about art over the weekend after Mark Peyton mentioned that he was not that thrilled to pick between two Justice League 0 covers and how Michael Turner was the least of two evils and it occurred to me to bring up a discussion on art on what people liked, owned, and would like to own. What is it that people like.

I'm a bit of an art whore, yet I'm very picky. The artists I like have to have a very distinct appearance with a capability to tell a story without getting lost. my favorites need to tell a tale and bring a mood or skill to a page.

The guys I like include: Howard Chaykin, Jim Lee, Lee Bermejo, Mike Mignola, Guy Davis, Masamune Shirow, Enki Bilal, Darick Robertson, Steve Dillon, Travis Charest, Bill sienkiewicz, The Kubert Family Walt Simonson, Bryan Hitch, Ben Templesmith, Dave McKean, Bryan Lee O'Malley Andy Clarke, Jock, Dave Gibbons, David Lloyd, Tony Harris, Eddie Campbell, Jamie Hernandez, Art Adams, Jeff Scott Campbell, Michael Lark, Michael Gaydos, J.H. Williams, Will Eisner, Frank Miller, and David Mack.

i own a couple of things and i would like to get more. I own the following pieces:
A Page from Bendis's Jinx by Bendis
A Gotham Central page and head sketch from Michael Lark.
A House Secrets page by Teddy Kristensen
A Starman page by Tony Harris.
A Constantine head sketch from Lee Bermejo
A Spider Jerusalem sketch from Darick Robertson
A GiantKiller color headshot from Dan Brereton
A Quick Hellboy sketch from Mike Mignola.
A Doop sketch from Darwyn Cooke.

There are also pieces that I would like as well. This is just a possible shopping list for WW Chicago next week.

A Chaykin Flagg piece.
A Jim Lee sketch or page. (I'm considering bidding on the Superman/Batman piece)
A Joe Kubert Sgt Rock piece.
Any Walt Simonson piece.

So... Anybody crazy about art like I am or am i just alone in the wind?
22  General Category / General Discussion / Re: MUSIC: What are you addicted to at the moment? on: July 17, 2006, 06:25:35 PM
Right now, outside of the hip hop hits I listen to at work (not by choice) I have been listening to a lot of Johnny Cash classics. I just bought all of the American Recordings albums today, recieved the V For Vendeta EP by David J and Robbie Williams' Intensive Care have been played as of late. I am fascinatedby Matisyahu as well. Why? Becuase Hip Hop has hurt my brain. Angry
23  General Category / Films & TV / Re: Summer Films - What are you looking forward to? on: May 04, 2006, 12:00:59 PM
The things that look like greatness for me are Art School Confidential and Snakes on a Plane, Nacho Libre or Clerks 2.  Smiley

I'll see X Men, Pirates of the Carribean, and Da Vinci Code and Superman. The first three against my will. The last one becuase I cannot stop myself.

Also, because my girl is defective in the braibn I will see GOAL: The Dream Begins because she lusts after the main star. I know it will be rubbish because it's directed by the guy who did Stallone's Judge Dredd. Angry  Roll Eyes Sad
24  General Category / General Discussion / Re: So I just spent £160 at comic shops today on: April 24, 2006, 11:12:03 AM
This sounds like my Saturday afternoon. A store near my house was having a going out of business sale and I spent about $190 on a whim. i should've bought more...  Shocked

Then again it wasn't as bad at the $350 week I had in 2001 when I had the deadman archives and the Sin City 10th anniversary book in addition to a very heavy book week.

The week after I come back from Heroes con will be interesting to boot.

I am not civil before my morning cup of coffee. The local coffee shop look at me and get me my order just so I avoid snarling.

My co-workers call me an athiest because when they asked if I wanted to go to heaven I said that I had no interest because it was filled with assholes. Roll Eyes

I use Rubbermaid 5 gallon cases. They are sturdy and stack nicely. They also keep most of the air, water, and light out. I need to buy two more. I'm out of space.

I think that this anniversary is better than realizing that you have been in the same shit job with benefits for 5 years. Which I celebrate today.

The Wildstorm Revamp: all of it. I only want it all.

Lost Girls: I have been waiting for the finale for about eight years now.

Morrison/Kubert Batman: It'll have mayhem.

Brubaker on Uncanny X Men: Just because I really like Shi'ar mayhem.
