I was thinking that he's dead and he's going through a kind of 'quantum leap of the soul'..given a chance to work out his mistakes in life and what he could've done before resolving things and getting into the afterlife....atleast then the paradoxes wouldn't matter..might also explain why he's in the 70's as his childhood is full of unresolved/turbulent events
