So, after our little feature on the launch of a new line of comics - did anyone pick them up?
My Local Comic Shop said business was adequate instore, but flying off ebay where they also sell. Snakewoman seems popular, probably helped by Gaydos art.
What do we think of the chances of these comics lasting?

I got the first issues last month and they area bit odd. Devi read like warmed over Witchblade. Snakewoman was decent and has the most potential for goodness. The third book was pretty, but I do not remember the story.
The one I want to read is Seven Brothers. I'm intrested in what Ennis will do.
The best way for success for them in the Direct Market is get American writer, eastern artist or vice versa. the lack of name recognition will be a uphill battle. Also, have these books surfaced at the local Virgin stores? i haven't been to mine i na while and i'm curious ifthey are available there and their sell though.

I'm curious as to whether they will sell the issues in the irgin stores in the UK as well. I doubt they will, but I would expect the eventual trades to be stocked in them.

Very mixed bag. I'm still really unconvinced that the model they have for established creators to hand off ideas to, for the best part, unknowns for execution is a viable one. I think there is a place in the market for the better titles, like Snakewoman, alongside the likes of Vertigo. I don't see the more superheroesque stuff like Devi making any headway against the likes of Marvel and DC. I've also seen every little buzz about the line in general on comic boards so i don't get the sense they really fired many peoples imagination. I'll be interested to see how the Woo and Ritchie created titles pan out.
