Feature Shocks: Alan Moore

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

Alan Moore has said, on more than one occasion, that his stories can only be told within the medium of comics, and that they are therefore impossible to translate successfully into film. However, with another of these ‘translated’ films, V for Vendetta, being released this year its time to take a look and find out just why these movies do or don’t work

V for Vendetta

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

V is an enigma. He speaks in Shakespearean monologues, but has the combat moves of an action hero. His entrance is a little ‘dense’ and it is perhaps as well that Evey is a more complex and sophisticated character in the film than the ‘book’.

Video Game Previews - April 06

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

Titans allows you to pick from Robin, Beast Boy, Raven, Cyborg and Starfire, with all five characters appearing on screen at once. You can cycle between them with a flick of the D-Pad, or have a friend (or 3) join in for a bit of multiplayer mayhem. The game bears a resemblance to X-Men Legends

Fight Night Round 3

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

Super Princess Peach

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

The game looks incredible, as far as 2D gaming goes. The colors are vibrant and varied, and match the pastel palette of the Princess nicely. The sprites are all large and detailed, and the game manages to be the best looking of all the Mario platformers to date.

Spike Vs Dracula 1

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

This issue (the first of five) opens with Dracula learning those showy gypsy tricks from a member of the Kalderash gypsy clan. Buffy/Angel fans who haven’t read this comic yet will be either laughing or crying at this seemingly minor point

Angel Spotlight: Illyria

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

Peter David does a wonderful job of conveying Illyria’s personality and understanding (or lack) of her surroundings amongst humanity. The story regards a killer who has no remorse for his crimes, even going so far as to attack the mother of some of his victims in the courtroom.

16 Blocks

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

A decidedly scary glimpse into the future for those who ever wanted to know how McClane’s life turned out after the Die Hard series.

24: The Game for PS2

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

Fans of the show will not be disappointed, as many of the twists and turns familiar to those that watch are definitely present here.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

Graphically, GRAW looks amazing. The lighting effects, gun models, character models and physics are all stellar.
