Peter the Pirate Squid

Peter the Pirate Squid is in fact as one may have thought a story about a squid. Not just any squid, a pirate squid named Peter.

Peter the Pirate Squid

Peter and his crew of seahorses, crabs and other underwater life forms have captured their own part of the sea. It’s a small part but it is theirs. Peter lost his memory at some point long ago but being a pirate squid that doesn’t matter much. The one thing he does remember is a need for shiny treasure. Thus leading his crew on the search for treasure and beware to those who get in their way, you may want to protect your knees and ankles.

Roman Dirge strikes again with his tale of pillaging, treasure hunts, cephalopods and crustaceans. This is a children’s story but witty enough for any adult as well. Roman brings an extra twist of darkness to an otherwise classic pirate tale, or should that be tentacle? The illustrations by Steven Daily are gorgeous and bring the story that much more to life. It also shows his ability to draw more than people with ships and sea creatures which had to be a bit of a challenge.

Highly recommended for any fan of Roman Dirge’s previous work and anyone who likes pirates, it may lack Johnny Depp but there is just as much fun to be had.
